It is never easy to parent a disabled kid. It requires a lot of effort on the part of the parent to really fulfill the requirements of the disabled child. Disabled children will have varying levels of emotional problems due to their physical afflictions. Parents of children with disabilities need to understand how to emotionally stabilize their children.

No medical journals or teen and child health magazines will completely make a parent understand the value of instilling confidence in a child with disabilities. Disabled children don’t have that much confidence. This is because they somehow do not feel all right with themselves. They do not understand why they have been separated from the rest of the people by God.

By instilling confidence in the disabled kid, a parent will create hope in the child. The hope to live and the hope to lead a normal life inspite of having disabilities. Confidence creates an understanding of the uniqueness of the soul and its purpose. It also increases the appetite to live, and not just merely exist. Children with disabilities when they grow up feeling low and unconfident lose the hope to live, and choose to just exist. This situation is because parenting never focused on building their confidence.

Now the question arises as to how to build confidence? Confidence is the result of having belief in one’s ability. Even disabled children will have plenty of talent. Television shows project blind children singing, and playing musical instruments. This is enough to show that every human being has got ability. And it is the responsibility of the parent to find this and hone this.

Parents should also concentrate on providing the best of education to their disabled children. Educated children can easily fit in as useful citizens of the country. They can be used to work in different fields of education. Education creates skilled resources. Even disabled children can become skillful adults and real assets to the society in large.

It is indeed a peculiar situation when you have to deal with an adopted kid, and your biological kid. Sometimes these things are hidden from kids, until they grown up. Challenging as it may seem, but this is not provided to see things in a certain way, your kids will do the same.

You don’t need a biological kid to parent

Parenting need not only be if you have conceived and gave birth to your own children. Parenting is an attitude, and a human need. Even biological kids don’t get parented that great by their biological parents. So the best parent advice that can be given to a parent, who wants to be a parent, is that parenting needs not only with your biological child. You can parent any kid who you think you can give all your love and care to.

Don’t let your adopted child feel like one

Treat your adopted kid and your biological kid the same. Don’t let your differential treatments create a sense of alienation in your adopted kid. Make your adopted kid feel like your kid, and you will see that your adopted kid considers you as his or her parent. Even if the adopted kid grew up and met his or her biological parents, the real parent would still be you. That’s what love can do. No parenting advice is complete without essaying the qualities of providing love and compassion to children.

Tell your adopted kids that they were adopted

Tell them after some time, when they reach about the age of 7 or 8. Don’t make it too late. Letting them to become adults and then letting them know is not right. They will have a rude awakening when they know this fact. By telling them when they are kids, they will feel that adoption is a very normal thing. And when they grow they too will adopt orphaned children or homeless children, fully knowing that parenting is a personal decision.

Teaching kids what is right and wrong has been a frontal point of debate for issues related to parenting advice, and teen and child health. Parenting is about giving choices to children. But it is also about letting children know what is right and what is wrong. Often, they do not understand what are the good things and the bad things. When they realize it on their own it will be with experience. But experience might create some disruptions to teen and child health. And you do not want experience to teach your child, because experience teaches everyone the hard way. As a parent you would rather contend with teaching your child right now itself, and by yourself.

Before getting started, consult with other parents on getting you some parenting advice on this topic. Focus on issues related to teen and child health. Make kids grow by making choices, and trying to understand how they felt about it.
It could be as simple as taking them out for a dinner, and then asking them to choose the menu. Now at this point of time, kids will wonder why the responsibility of choice has been thrust on them. They will also be compelled in getting out some good choices for the dinner. In doing so, they will assess what is right for the occasion. They will try to figure out what other people like as well. In doing all this, the child will start to exercise powers of discretion. This is one of the most powerful ways to get children to discrete between things. In the future, they will apply the same dinner logic, but an advanced one, to deal with challenges they face in life.

You can take a lot of parenting advice on issues related to helping kids choose between right and wrong. But the best one is to train them to think. If they think discretely, they will also choose wisely. Including right and wrong.

Hawaiian employers will conduct medical and physical examination before employing

Job applications in Hawaii will now have another clause to it. Job applicants will be required to undergo a physical and medical test, before they can be guaranteed employment. Current employees will be required to undergo medical tests as well. The rule of the land will apply for all physical and medical tests. It does not matter whether the test is held at the level when applicants are screened, or at the current employment level.

This development is indeed a new way for employers to find out whether people are rightly-abled for the job. Employments often do not require the mandate of a medical test before employment. It is apparent that this is certainly not a military camp that hires military cadets. But many people with eyesight problems or people with psychological problems get employed without the employer knowing it.

But what this also means is that employers can’t provide step-motherly treatment for people with disabilities. Employment screenings will not deny the right opportunity for a disabled, but a rightly-abled candidate from getting the job. Hawaiian employment law in combination with the Disabilities Act has stipulated that such thing as discrimination based on disabilities should not be made. The law states that if the disability is affecting the quality of the job of the employee or the job applicant, then screening rules can apply.

This law is a step towards putting down the unlawful and baseless ways of denying people with disabilities to pursue their dreams of being employed in an organization. The law also states that medical examination of potential candidates and current employees should be based on the need of the job.

For example, a person who has a walking problem can easily do a software development job, since this job requires minimal travel or no travel. If this person has the right qualifications, and skills, then this person’s disabilities should not come in the way of seeking a bright and fruitful employment opportunity.

How sports can solve teenage problems

Sports can help teenagers to become more active in their teenager years. A sport also creates a diversion in activities of interest for teenagers. Including sports in the scheme of things is good for teen and child health. This is because sports create a lot of positive energy in teenagers. And positively energized teenagers are good for the society.

Teenagers who play regular sports have lesser incidences of teen and health issues. This is because they feel more energetic and positive about their lives. Sports create energy of action in people. Sometimes to take decisions or do chores, a lot of energy is spent on thinking about doing it. But regular sports will chase that away. Because in sports, decisions are made fast, and the results need to be immediately created.

That’s why people who have an athletic background have a successful life. They are quite contended with their lives, unless they get into alcohol and drugs. Teen and child health can be improved by including an hour’s sport activity in the schedule.
Now with so many online games, and gaming consoles, sports has taken a backseat.

Given that all sport is played virtually, sports played on fields are becoming less. Youngsters find more gratification in winning games on the field virtually, than running onto the field, and sweating it out for a win.

Sports have to be encouraged in colleges and schools. With so many youngsters ending up as couch potatoes, teenage obesity is on the rise. Teen and child health issues related to substance abuse is also related to a lack of sporting activity. When an idle mind is a devil’s workshop, these behavioral tendencies tend to crop up.

Whereas, if sports were played by these same teenagers, their idle minds would have never remained idle. Rather they will be teeming with actionable thoughts, on how to make the best of the moment. Sports can create constructive and action oriented thinking in the minds of teenagers.

Children or teenagers who have lived in joint families might not find certain things as they would have liked to be. And this problem applies to the other side of the grass as well. Children who have not lived in joint families might also find things getting a little tough for them when they are asked to share their time, space, or personal belongings.

Consistency is the key

As a parent, whatever you do should be consistent. Don’t let your values and principles to be inconsistent. Don’t let your children be led to believe that what you are doing is just a put-on. Be flexible and rigid

This is quite tough. To be flexible as well as rigid is to make a rubber band, stand up like a pin. Most parents would never dream of supplying their teenagers with drugs, but it happens. Often, parents become suppliers without even realizing it. Don’t let yourself have a false sense of security. If you think your teen shows signs of an addiction, consider whether you may be contributing to the problem before your children wind up in drug abuse treatment centers.

Many people keep alcohol on hand. Maybe Dad likes to grab a cold beer after a day of work or when the game comes on the TV. Maybe Mom likes to cook with wine. Perhaps you have a wet bar you keep stocked with your favorite alcoholic bases and mixes. Do you really monitor this alcohol?

Even if you mark lines on the bottles to gauge the amount of fluid left in a bottle after you use it, teenagers may sneak drinks. After all, do you really know how many bottles you have on hand? Do you really remember where you made the last mark? What about the beer in the fridge? Have you kept tabs on how many you drank during the game?

Some people lock the alcohol in a cabinet, but teenagers often know where their parents keep the key. If the lock has a combination, your teenagers may know what it is. And, don’t think that’s the only place your teen may look for drugs.

Your medicine cabinet or the hallway closet may be just as much of a drug source as your wet bar. Pharming is a popular method of drug use among teenagers. It is a process through which teens try to get high by taking prescription-strength medication collected from their homes. Pharming is one of the most dangerous methods of drug use because the medications can interact or cause harmful side effects.

As a parent, take the time to consider whether you may be your teen’s drug supplier.

Recent research has it that more than ten percent of teenage children in the US suffer from eating disorders. As age progresses, they become obese adults. And this gives rise to cardiovascular ailments. Cardiovascular ailments create lower life expectancy. So teen and child health decline due to an eating disorder of a teenage child.

Teenagers pickup the overeating habit while they do repetitive things. Watching TV is one the chief culprits in create couch potatoes of teenagers. Now Internet addiction has created couch potatoes who also surf the Internet. These two habits have created obesity problems in teenagers. When they do such activities they tend to eat junk food. It’s like having popcorn when you watch a movie. You need to keep munching something as you watch it. The same applies at home. When teenagers watch television or surf the Internet for hours, their want of munching something becomes an eating disorder.

A lot of factors can be attributed to creating an eating disorder in teenage children. Teen and child health has on certain cases pointed to the involvement of genetic conditions. Environment factors also create eating disorders. When the teenager is put in an environment that puts a lot of academic stress, teenagers can take to food to seek temporary solace.

Taking to food to seek solace is a common thing. Teenagers also get into relationships that might unsuccessful. Unsuccessful relationships create a vacuum in the teenager’s heart and soul. To compensate for a lack of excitement in life, a teenager might take to food. The teenager might even take to alcohol and drugs, leading to a further worsening of teen and child health condition.

Eating disorders can be solved by getting the teenager to participate in sports and other recreational activities that involve competitive sporting activity. The teenager has to be made to join friend clubs that focus on developing common interests and skills. All these will prove beneficial for a teenager with an eating disorder.
